07/29/09 - Week 136
Summer Flowers..
My favorite Summer flower is the Gladiola. As much as I love them, my luck at growing them is about nil. I might as well take the money I spend for bulbs and throw it in the hole and throw dirt in it. I think it may have something to do with the black clay I have for dirt are around here. Anything has to be pretty tough to grow in the stuff.
Once in a while I will get a surprise and one of the glads will actually grow and get large enough to flower. This year I may get two of them to bloom. Time will tell on that but for now the orange one featured as this weeks photo is the one that seems to have made it to the bloom stage.
I hope you are managing to stay cool where you are. It looks like temps in the 100's for us this week. The only good part of that is we drop down the 60's at night so we don't have to run the AC at night to be able to sleep and we can get the house cooled down to start the day.
Take care and try and stay out of the heat. Another car show next Saturday so it will probably be another car photo of some kind next week.
The countdown continues on the 2010 Return To Alaska trip. More info in the links below.
I have started an Alaska 2010 web site here with current information on where we stand, where we will be going and what we will be doing. When we return from the site photos and such will be added after we get back like I did on the Alaska 2005 site.
Hope you enjoy the photo,
