09/20/09 - Week 144
Fall Is In The Air
While fall doesn't officially begin until Tuesday, as I put this together on Saturday, it sure feels like fall is here. It's about 65º outside and there has been a light rain / mist falling all day long. "Not to fear" says the weather guesser on the TV. We are supposed to be back to over 90º by the middle of the week but then cool back down by next weekend.
Fall is my favorite time of the year for landscape photography. The mornings are generally cool and damp and the moisture really brings out the colors. On the other hand it can be pouring down rain and keep you indoors but that is what good books are for. When you go play in the woods in Oregon you learn to go with the flow. Oh that's right, you don't have a choice!
The photo for this week was from our October outing last year at Alder Springs on the Old McKenzie (Highway 242). The trail in the photo is the one leading into Linton lake. If you look at the sky in the large image you can see the low lying clouds in the tree tops in the background. This is one of my favorite camping / shooting trips of the year. We will be back up there in a couple of weeks and I'm ready for it
The countdown continues on the 2010 Return To Alaska trip. More info in the links below.
I have started an Alaska 2010 web site here with current information on where we stand, where we will be going and what we will be doing. When we return from the site photos and such will be added after we get back like I did on the Alaska 2005 site.
Hope you enjoy the photo,
