10/11/09 - Week 147
Warm Days and Cool Nights
After getting snowed out on the camping trip last week this has been pure joy here in Western Oregon for those that are big fans of Autumn. Blue skies and around 70 in the day time and down to the high 30's or low 40's at night.
We are still about a week away from our prime fall color and it looks like rain for the middle of the week. If high wind doesn't move in with the rain there could still be a chance for some good fall shooting. If we get the wind cameras will be pointed at the ground as that is where all of the pretty color will end up.
This weeks photo was taken last year on the trail to Proxy Falls. The bright color is the vine maple changing. This is an interesting area as you are walking through a 1500 year old lava flow for the first and last sections of the trail. I had hoped to have something to post from that trail taken last weekend but the snow problem kept that one from happening. I'm going to try and get up in the Cascades the end of this week after the rain and see what is going on.
I said last week that I would get some more of the snow photos up on my site. They are on my blog at http://www.classyshots.com/blogger/index.php if you are interested.
Have a great week,
Mike
The countdown continues on the 2010 Return To Alaska trip. More info in the links below.
I have started an Alaska 2010 web site here with current information on where we stand, where we will be going and what we will be doing. When we return from the site photos and such will be added after we get back like I did on the Alaska 2005 site.
Hope you enjoy the photo,
